What do guys want from girls – The question is as old as the hills. Ought you phone him, or wait for him to call you?  One thing is for sure, it doesn’t come with a rulebook- even if it should do. If you are in this for the long haul what  facts should you know?

•    HE WANTS SOMEONE HE CAN RELATE TO: Sounds kind of straight forward when you think about it, but not all men have the same type of friendships as women do. He probably won’t say this, but he is looking for a friend as much as a girlfriend.

•    HE WANTS SOMEONE WHO IS IN CONTROL OF THEIR EMOTIONS: Different personality types can work together well, if he is a hot head, try and cool down the situation, not turn up the heat. Knowing how to diffuse situations is a canny skill many don’t have. This is not the same thing as tolerating bad behaviour, though.

•    HE MIGHT NOT WANT TO CHANGE: Going on a mission to change someone is nearly always destined to fail. What you see is most likely to be what he is. If you think there are areas of friction there probably are.

•    HE DOESN’T WANT TO BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED: No-one wants to be mere background. Make time doing things you know he will enjoy too. Do things he wouldn’t expect sometimes to keep him fresh – nice things that is!

•    HE WANTS SOMEONE ON HIS SIDE: You may argue all you like about the small stuff, but be sure he knows you are there when he needs to lean on you.

•    HE WANTS YOU TO TRUST HIM: Pay him the respect of being able to make his own decisions and have enough belief in him to trust they are the right ones. Don’t forget, you can’t keep him locked up and all to yourself.
